Tropus — A Dual Medium for Musical Creativity and Theory

What is Tropus?

Built on Llull Lab's formal tools

Tropus is built on the original formal tools developed by Llull Lab: the radical theory of the Tractatus de Musica and the Sync-Turing approach for optimizing human–machine communication efficiency and synchronization. It works in two ways:

Creative

It generates musical pieces that are original, modifiable, and Tractatus-consistent, produced as one-time works through its own internal architecture.

Theoretical & Pedagogical

It explains musical concepts, clarifies principles, and links ideas to practical examples, helping users understand how and why musical structures emerge.

Instructions

How to use Tropus

1. Create Music

Describe any situation or idea you imagine:

  • “I’m hosting a party tonight — make me an amazing funky song.”
  • “Give me a fusion of Japanese traditional music and Celtic music played underwater.”
  • “Create a piece using the most relaxing sound frequencies for meditation.”

Tropus creates an original, one-time piece of music for your request. Want it different? Just ask it to modify — Tropus will do it for you.

2. Learn & Explore

Ask anything you’re curious about:

  • “Why does my voice sound better when I sing in the shower?”
  • “How should be an ideal harmony?”
  • “Which chords should I use after a SUS chord?”

Tropus gives clear, simple, and helpful explanations. You don’t need any musical knowledge — just ask and explore.
